City of Olongapo Mourns the Passing of Sangguniang Panlungsod  Member Noel Yabut Atienza
The late City Councilor Atty. Noel Yabut Atienza (November 5, 1966-May 31, 2026).

Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Noel Yabut Atienza, a seasoned legislator known for advocating accessible legal consultations for all, among other causes, passed away on May 31, 2026. He was 59. 

An elected city councilor for six legislative terms most recently for 2025-2028, City Councilor Atienza has championed reforms and authored key policies such as the Anti-Distractive Driving Policy, Anti-Smoking Ordinance of Olongapo City, and Zero Plastic Policy.

In a statement after the Flag Raising Ceremonies last June 1st, City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino, Jr. expressed sorrow over the demise of the councilor, and honored his years of dedicated service as a lawyer and public servant. On the other hand, the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its 22nd Regular Session on the same day dedicated a minute of silence for its late Member, then unanimously sponsored and approved Resolution No. 130, Series of 2026 to express profound sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family for the councilor’s passing.

Public viewing of his remains is at the Olongapo Memorial Park, and internment is scheduled on June 7, 2026, tentatively set at 9:00 in the morning.  

Born on November 5, 1966, Councilor Atienza is survived by parents Atty. Juanito C. Atienza and Barangay Kagawad Raquel Y. Atienza; siblings Maria Lourdes, Maria Theresa, and Maria Juanita; wife Charity, and son Johnnoel Aryel.
